SCCS-7
This cover is the SCCS unofficial first day cover of Postal Service's se-tenant pair
of stamps honoring the Gemini Space Program (Scott #1331-32). SCCS had enough
of the "Gemini Twin" stamps flown from official first day "city", Kennedy Space Center in
Florida, to Houston, Texas, to complete about 200 covers with a Houston, Texas cancel.
Hand canceled at Houston, Texas on September 29, 1967, the cover also features
a single of the Ed White NASA Local Post stamp that was printed bi-color in blue-grey
and black ink. The NLP local was canceled with a NASA Local Post commemorative
cancel in purple ink. The cover also has a rubber stamped cachet in green ink.

A steel hand cancel was used as the dark color of the "Gemini Twin" stamps prevented
the machine cancel from showing. The steel cancel still didn't produce a quality cancel, but
at the time this was the only option available.
